‘Knowing about the wood’ doesn’t regrow a forest. I think they are being very misleading about the trees that they cut down.
This is an amazing renovation and inspirational. Learned how to design buildings in Portland. I feel the heart and soul of the city seeing these images and videos. Will always be a treat to fly back through PDX
I’m not too sold on the ethereal ideas of it being like a forest that grew however the warmth of light and materials and the way the space is broken down into smaller spaces by means of focal bubbles in the ceiling make a space that is inviting and comfortable as opposed to more traditional airports that feel clinical. And that’s just experiential aspect of the design.
Larping as Dali is a brave choice.

How do you clean it? Looks like you didn't think about that, just like they didn't for the twin towers....
Do you mean how do they clean the ceilings? I have seen similar wood baffle ceilings at other airports for at least a decade, and they are usually clean. They must have a way to clean them. It’s a stunning ceiling, though.
